Interfaith House plays a unique role among the network of groups addressing the challenges faced by Chicago’s homeless population. We fill what was a service gap, helping homeless adult men and women with medical recovery needs that cannot be appropriately addressed in a shelter environment.
Share a Meal
One of the critical components of our work is to provide residents with regular, nutritious meals; a critical part of their medical recovery. We are helped in this task by a small but generous network of congregations, schools and other organizations who volunteer to provide a meal on a set date to our 64 residents — either in our kitchen or their own, reheating it in our facility. Charity groups interested in helping in this important project should contact our Volunteer Coordinator at: firstname.lastname@example.org and ask about the SAM project.
Each year Interfaith House holds over 1,000 educational sessions for our residents on topics such as: general health and mental health issues, employment and housing opportunities, computer skills, interpersonal communication, nutrition, and budgeting.
