Volunteers visit Interfaith House for Thanksgiving

Each Thanksgiving, dozens of volunteers join with our residents and staff to share a traditional dinner of turkey and pumpkin pie. This year the volunteers included a group of students from Baldwin Wallace College in Ohio who chose to participate in the school’s “Alternative Thanksgiving” and spend their holiday in Chicago at Interfaith House. Thanks to all the volunteers who participated, and a special good luck to the students as they return to their academic pursuits

The Hermitage Foundation honored at Welcome Home Interfaith House’s 2009 Gala

On Wednesday, June 17, 2009 over 300 friends of Interfaith House rode the elevators to The Metropolitan Club on the 66th floor of the Sears Tower to join with Executive Director Jennifer Nelson as she presented the “Key to Interfaith House” to Annick Deubler of The Hermitage Foundation as a special thank you for their long time support and friendship.

The festive occasion included a delicious buffet, raffle and silent auction, and a live-auction with Lou Bury serving as our guest Auctioneer. The Gala Committee, co-chaired by Steven Gerschoffer and Trey Gonzales, exceeded all expectations, netting over $140,000 in support of Interfaith House’s programs to help homeless men and women restore their health, rebuild their lives and regain self sufficiency.

Welcome Home Gala 2009

Interfaith House marches out in support of Hunger Walk

Interfaith House sent a record breaking 62 walkers in support of the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s 24th Annual Hunger Walk along the lakefront on Saturday, June 20, 2009. A summer highlight, Interfaith House joins with thousands of others to help raise needed funds and awareness for the entire network of organizations working to provide food and meals to people in need throughout the Chicago area.
